Cryolipolysis (Cool sculpting)
Content
Description
Cryolipolysis is a method of removing fatty tissue that is an alternative to conventional liposuction. However, it is suitable only for a minor correction of body proportions.
In this procedure, the fatty tissue is removed by a device applying low-temperature on different parts of body with excess fatty pads. The idea is that fat is more sensitive to low temperatures than the surrounding tissue.
Facts
- No anesthesia
- Outpatient procedure
- Procedure takes about 60 minutes
- Immediate recovery
Fat cells contain fatty acids that crystallize when exposed to low temperatures and thus the fat cells are damaged. Subsequently, they are removed naturally within 2 - 3 months.
- A special device is used which creates a vacuum over the treated fat pad and destroys the fat tissue by the action of temperatures around -10 °C (14 °F).
- The treatment lasts 40 - 60 minutes and the fat tissue is gradually broken down.
- For optimal results 3 sessions are usually used every 6 weeks.
- This method is non-invasive and no recovery is required.
It is suitable for patients with fat pads that cannot be lost through exercise and diet correction. However, it is suitable only for a minor body correction.
Thus, the main advantage is body sculpting - the procedure is not suitable for weight loss or weight reduction. The best results are in the abdomen, hips and thighs.
